This place is exactly situated between the Niigata university and the beach. You grandma lived in Niigata? Whow ! When has she been there? And may I ask what for? Niigata isn't very famous outside of Japan but it is a wonderful area with a lot of beautiful lansdscapes of the japanese countryside.

my grandma lived in Niigata all her life. she lived about half an hour from the university.
i used to visit her every once in a while.

Really? Cool ! She must have known Niigata before the old canals that flowed throughout the city were filled in to make way for more roads... When it still was called " mizu no machi ", the city of water.
